Washington Post social rebrand + design

I have shaped @washingtonpost’s visual identity on Instagram since I was hired as the company’s first Instagram designer in 2021. Working closely with design and social editors, I achieved brand consistency between our social content and The Post’s website by building our entire template suite in Photoshop, art directing the redesign of a tool that editors use to generate cards for social platforms, writing style guide documentation, and operating as a social design resource for the entire design team.

I continue to influence our Instagram coverage by adapting our journalism into custom-designed posts every week, executing frequent template refreshes, and updating our social style guide documentation as needed.

Social post design
I’ve designed thousands of Instagram posts over the years. Here are some of my favorites. Click each image to view it on Instagram.

Template design
I’ve built and continued to update the majority of the templates used by several Post Instagram accounts: @washingtonpost, @postopinions, @postpolitics, @poststyle, @postclimate and @postsports. These templates are the starting point for every post we share.
